Fred John Button, RCN


Fred Button, a former Torpedoman who served in the RCN for 21 years, passed away in Sidney, BC on the 1st of September, 2013 at the age of 78. Fred was in the 1955 Second Block Draft of Canadians loaned to the Royal Navy for submarine service and served on the commissioning crews of both HMCS GRILSE and HMCS RAINBOW.

On retiring from the navy, he owned Tip Toe Roofing and worked for the Capital Regional District, BC Ferries, and finally the Canadian Coast Guard.

Regretfully, we have no more pictures of Fred or details of his service, but submissions to saoc.central@gmail.com are most welcome.
